The Broughton High School Internship Program is a work-based learning experience where students learn by taking on responsible roles as workers in organizations and reflect on what happens while they are in the workplace. The Internships Program is a supplement to formal classroom instruction. Its intent is to add significantly to the vitality of the instructional program and impact the course that a student has taken or will take.
Student participants receive a copy of the "Broughton Blue Print" which serves as the Internship Manual. Every two weeks, students are required to submint,electronically, four journal entries four definitions, and a time sheet. At the completion of each nine-week period, their mentor is required to submit an evaluation form. At the end of the year, the students are required to complete a comprehensive CD entitled: "Footnotes" which will be used as a Career Resource for Underclassmen. A 15-minute presentation is also a mandatory requirement which will take place in the month of May. Students are required to put in 180 hours of time at their place of work in order to receive one elective credit.
