Parent, Teacher & Student Association
A Message from Your PTSA President, Barbara Bunn
Webster's defines "community" as a unified body of individuals, an interacting population of various kinds of individu-als in a common location, or a group of people with a common characteristic or interest. Sounds like Broughton High School to me!
Broughton is a wonderful community consisting of students, faculty and staff, parents and families and the businesses that surround us and support us. Whether you are a new family to Broughton or are returning with a continuing or new student, I encourage you to embrace the community that is Broughton-to be unified, to interact, to participate and to embrace the common goal of providing the best education possible for our students!
The PTSA has a valuable role in the Broughton community. Through the memberships and donations of parents, fac-ulty, staff and students and with the help of all of our wonderful volunteers, we are a mighty force! We help to keep you informed about school and PTSA sponsored events, as well as what is happening in the classrooms. We help to host Open House, provide volunteers in Guidance, Attendance and the Community Service offices, and we show ap-preciation for our faculty and staff by providing treats throughout the year and through our mini-grants program. We advocate for Broughton by keeping you apprised of Wake County Board of Education discussions and decisions that affect our school and by encouraging any necessary action. Our newsletters and PTSA directory are excellent tools for staying connected to the Broughton community. Our volunteers staff the concession stands at games, and we support the Broughton Capitals and our school's athletic booster club. Our Academic Booster Club recognizes the academic successes of our students in so many ways. PTSA volunteers also spruce up the school grounds throughout the year. Our unique Parent Partners program is an invaluable resource to Broughton families as it keeps you informed of what to expect through Parent Coffees and class emails. These are just some of the things our PTSA does for the Broughton community and we need for you to join us!
