Students cannot leave school for any reason during the school day without checking out through the Attendance Office. Leaving school without checking out through the Attendance Office will be considered an unexcused absence or skipping.
If a parent needs to check out a student during the day, the parent must come to the Attendance Office. Please be advised that there are no "walk in" check-outs permitted between 1:45 - 2:20 pm.
Student Check-Out Procedures:
If you know in advance that you will be checking your student out early, please follow the guidelines below:
1. Send the absence note (download under forms) to the Attendance Office with your student in the morning. Include a telephone number where you can be contacted.
2. Student presents note to the Attendance Coordinator and obtains an Early Release Slip.
3. Student shows Early Release Slip to teacher and leaves class at the appropriate time. Student may then leave campus and/or meet parent outside in the carpool line.
4. Student has 2 days after an Early Release to bring documentation for a medical/dental appointment. If a student does not bring documentation within 2 days of returning to school, the Early Release will be coded as unexcused. Please see the Forms section of the website to access the absent note. "This form must be printed off, filled out, and returned by student within 2 days of returning to school after an absence."
Request for Absence To Be Excused On Educational Grounds:
For an excused absence for educational reasons, the intent of the experience should be educational from the outset and comparable to that which the student would have experience in school. Family trips and vacations that were not designed, initially, to be educational will not be excused.
