The invites are out! Senior family picnic on Wednesday, June 5th; 5:30-7:30 pm is a "don't miss" event with none other than Steve Hardy's Original Beach Party as entertainment for our "beach" themed barbeque picnic. All seniors are free with a reservation and family members are $10 each with reservations by check due May 17th. Invitations include response card and envelope. A photo booth to "record" memories with friends and family will also be available free of charge courtesy of the Tehan family's Oak Park Shops. Be on the lookout for your invitations and respond quickly for this "not to be missed" event! Please remember that we will be celebrating the accomplishments of all of our Seniors on Friday, May 24^th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Holliday Gym. This will be a great celebration of the end of the regular school days for Seniors!

Yearbook Distribution day is Wednesday, May 22 during both lunches. Students go to the SMALL GYM with a PHOTO ID to pick up their yearbook during 1st or 2nd lunch. If students have not bought them yet, they are now $85.00. Bring a check to Broughton or cash! We only have 100 left!
Note: If they are absent on Wednesday, they can come before or after school the following Thursday and Friday!

The Athletic Spring Banquet will be held on Monday, May 20 in the Holliday Gym for all athletes who played a Spring sport. Start time is 5:30 PM. Please note - this is a different time - 5:30 PM start time! Please respond, even if you cannot attend. Athletes and coaches eat free - everyone else it is $8. Check or cash - checks are payable to BHS Caps Club and sent to Tammy Hinton 621 Transylvania Ave. Raleigh, NC 27609 or dropped off at the Front Desk at BHS (Ms. Onate). PayPal is also an option...directions are in an email sent by the team coach.

This past weekend Broughton competed in the first ever North Carolina High School Sand Volleyball Association Playoffs. Each school entered their top teams with Kati Smith and Tiana Butler (and Ryan Haar and Lauren Brustofski) representing Broughton. Kati and Tiana went undefeated in a double elimination tournament fielding teams such as Apex, Middle Creek, Cardinal Gibbons, Carrboro, Athens Drive, and Epiphany. These freshmen had an incredible match against a Cardinal Gibbons junior and senior (one of which has committed to play at Wisconsin next year) in the semi-finals. It was wonderful for Broughton to take home a title in the inaugural season of club sand volleyball and exciting to see how these ladies perform for our Varsity team next year.

The Building and Grounds Committee will be having a cleanup day on Friday morning, May 17th beginning at 9am. We will be working in the front of the school to get ready for the many graduation festivities that take place on the front lawn. We will be spreading mulch and weeding and many hands are needed. We will also have a cleanup day the following morning, Saturday May 18th from 8am until 12. We will be finishing up work in the front of the school but would also like to get the areas surrounding the gym looking nice. Students and parents are welcome. Please bring any rakes, gloves, trimmers, and blowers that you have that may help us. If you have any questions please contact Jackie Freeman at gjkrcfreeman@aol.com

It was an exciting week for our Seniors as Caps, Gowns, and Honor Cords were delivered. Please remember that each Senior needed to have all of his/her fees and fines paid, all Community Service hours completed, and paid his/her Senior Dues in order to have received his/her Cap and Gown.
